CME Exchange Announces XRP Futures Launch in May, Broadening Altcoin Derivatives Market
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) will launch XRP futures contracts on May 19, marking a major milestone for the sixth-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. The offering includes two contract sizes: standard (50,000 XRP) and micro (2,500 XRP), both cash-settled in USD.
XRP becomes the fourth digital asset with CME futures listings after Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. The news triggered a price surge, with XRP stabilizing above $2 amid broader market recovery. Institutional demand for crypto derivatives continues rising, as CME’s Bitcoin futures have become a key traditional finance benchmark.
